DAT stands for Delivered at Terminal, and while the risks and costs assumed by the seller are very similar to both DAP and DDP, there are small differences. DAT and DAP are two new international commercial terms, which have been introduced to the foreign trade world with the publication of Incoterms 2010 rules. Before January 1, 2011, which is the effectiveness date of Incoterms 2010, there were no incoterms called DAT or DAP. Under Incoterms 2020, the rule formerly called Delivered at Terminal (DAT) is now referred to as Delivered at Place Unloaded (DPU). Delivered At Terminal refers to the seller delivering the goods, once unloaded from the arriving means of transport. DAP – Delivered at Place Definition: This term means that the seller pays all the costs of transportation (export fees, carriage, insurance, and destination port charges) up to and including the delivery of the goods to the final destination. The buyer is responsible to pay only the import duty/taxes/customs costs.
